ISC 45th Anniversary

The International Services Council of Alabama celebrated its 45th anniversary and awards luncheon on Tuesday, December 14th,2010.

The theme was “ISC of Alabama – Past, Present, Future… -- Alabama’s bridge to global relationships”.  Mayor Tommy Battle served as the luncheon speaker and entertainment was provided by Madison Jazz of Bob Jones high school.

ISC of Alabama operates under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitors Leadership Program and provides enriching opportunities for local residents to interact with foreign leaders.  Its diplomatic corps volunteered in hosting over 175 visitors in fy2010.

ISC’s programs include its global perspectives institute and education outreach at the Academy for Science and Foreign Language, a Huntsville magnet school.

The International Services Council of Alabama was founded in 1965 through the support of the Hunstville Rotary Club, the Madison County Commission and the City of Huntsville.

Jacquelyn Gates Shipe serves as its executive director.
